Another Curve Ball right into my plans

So SUU Juniper Housing was shut down this last week(Nov. 6th) , and a lot of the students that were living there were moved into Stratford Hotel (this hotel has been turned into temporary housing till the end of the semester.) This was the hotel I was working at. So all the workers here were let go for the next 6 weeks. I found this out last Saturday (my last day of work for the next 6 weeks.)
(The picture on the side ignore the January)
On Monday it snowed all day and since I had time and was slightly in a gray color mood, I spent a lot of time writting letters to my two sisters on missions and three of my friends that are also on missions, then I addressed the envolopes and noticed how boring, white and plain the backs were, so I doodeled and wrote them messages until there was no visible whiteness on the backs of the envolopes. (incase you didn't know this about me I love to doodle, it makes me happy!) After doing this my mood had improved a Lot! I went outside to walk my little sister's dog that I am babysitting, and realized that it was snowing perfect packing snow. I finished the walk. And immeaditely started on a snowgirl. :D I got the body done (with some ivy trimming on the dress.) was doing the last touches on the face and the head fell off and crumbled into unrecognizableness. :( I must have made a noise (imagine a drawn out "NOOOOOOOO!" because my roommate's face suddenly appeared in the window. I did big motion sign language to tell her what had caused the cry that she heard through the window. I did the action like I was slitting a troat and then fell back, and through up my hands in defeat, and acted like I was wiping away tears. She understood everything I said. And I hope you were able to picture it, and not get confused. I then came inside and left my snowgirl headless.
You know this snowfall was actually such a blessing, because I just needed to do something childish, and create something. This was a very healing day especially after losing my job on Saturday.
You know another blessing about going to the farm before this year of college... I learned a lot about life and death, so when I lost this job for the next 6 weeks I didn't become a weeping willow or angrey. In fact my roommates said they never would have guessed that this situation had happened. I was talking with one of my roommates last night and this occured to me that losing my job was kind of like the dissipointment and saddness I discovered when a small animal had died on the farm, but sometimes you just have to accept it and keep moving on, because there is more life to be found. Don't dwell on the sad in life.
On Wednesday I bought myself a laptop. I am going to start leladelling again.
Also on Wednesday I decorated a t-shirt with my roommate DeNay Osburn and a good friend Kim (I can't remember her last name.) We bought some plain white t-shirts at Walmart and then drew a fermoda sign on it (the musical sign that says to hold the note longer) and wrote under it "Hold Me..." on the back we wrote "With Your ("Whole" note) Heart" Then we put accents of glitter on and I drew a little lellagirl and lellaboy underneath holding hands. ;)
and then we did something scary... we wore them to institute the next day. AHHHHHHH!
Don't worry nobody hugged me, and the only people who really reacted was the institute teachers.
I think this is all I have to write about at this time. But now that I have a computer I will be a more consistant blogger. :)

Etiquette for a Hotel Guest

I was cleaning some rooms the other day and thought etiquette for a hotel quest must not be commonly known. These little things are what a housekeeper knows would make cleaning it a lot more enjoyable and quicker to clean.

So for just a moment I want you to visualize a hotel room. You probably see either 2 queen beds or a king bed, there will be a dresser, a table, a t.v. maybe a fridge and microwave, then you have a closet, a sink with counter top and than a bathroom.

When you are about to leave the hotel you survey everything to make sure you haven't forgotten anything. As you do this some kind little gestures that you could also do would be to.....
(These are if you are checking out)
  1. If you used both beds strip them and put the sheets and pillow cases in a pile with the towels and washcloths.
  2. If you have random bits of garbage all over the room put it in the trash bin.
  3. Leave a small tip for the housekeeper. (when I find just two dollars in a room I am so grateful.)
  4. If you decide not to do number one don't make the beds at all just leave them, (cause if the bed looks made the way the housekeepers make them we think they are done, and don't change them.)
if you are an in-house /stayover guest these are the rules of etiquette
  1. Any towels you do not want laundered and changed leave hanging up.
  2. If you want the housekeeper to make the bed your stuff has to off of it.
  3. If you leave a small tip each day you are there it is helpful if there is a note saying it is for the housekeeper. :)
I know that when people leave their rooms having done these, I am so grateful and I know I am not the only housekeeper who feels this way. Did you know that just stripping the rooms of all the laundry (towels and sheets and things) can take 5 minutes. Most days I have a lot of rooms to clean (somewhere usually between 12-15. The housekeeper should only take 30-35 minutes on a room. If you left the room trashed it takes a lot longer. It can be tedious, and unrewarding work, but those who come next to stay the night appreciate it greatly. None of these things I have mentioned take a lot of time and you might not think it very important, but to one who does the housekeeping you have made a HUGE difference. I often find myself entering the room and discovering that the beds have been stripped and declaring "THANK YOU to who ever was in here and being so thoughtful!"

CinderLella

I was contemplating starting a whole new blog but thought I have 2 already that I could continue posting on. So now that I am away from Quail Hollow Farm C.S.A. What could I blog about that would be interesting to read. I decided that I would continue blogging my life. I have now stepped into a new adventure. My adventure that I had planned on doing this Fall was attending George Wythe University. (http://www.gw.edu/) Well life threw a curve ball at me and it turns out that I am not going to GWU this fall. I am working and saving money so that I can go next semester. I got 2 jobs pretty quickly (which was a pleasant surprise)! So the adventure that I will be experiencing this autumn has to do with making beds and cleaning floors. I am a housekeeper at two hotels! That is why this post is called CinderLella. (:-D) On that note let me begin....

Once upon a time there was a lovely girl, who had to clean and scrub room after room on floor after floor. Everyday she would have 10 or more rooms to clean. It was exhausting work, and not super rewarding since the people she cleaned for never really said "Thank You" to the lowly housekeeper. After a full day of work she would trudge home on weary feet, for her carriage (Legacy Subaru) that her Fairy Godmother (sister Margret who went on a mission.) had left her was needing a couple of repairs before it could be of use to poor CinderLella. Her Fairy Godmother had known she would be traveling out of the country for some time and didn't want to leave CinderLella with no transportation if the occasion arose.
Even though the chances of meeting royalty was slim, she was becoming proficient at making beds fit for monarchs (Queen sized and King sized beds) in 10-15 minutes all by herself. Which if you have made you will understand that to be an accomplishment. Pillows actually and surprisingly seemed to take the longest out of the whole bed process. She did not have an Evil step-mother or step-sisters, however she did have a not so pleasant to work with manager. So she ran away from that job (aka quit) for it was not worth it to be unhappy for 25 cents more an hour.

One Friday afternoon CinderLella received an exciting invitation... She had been asked on a date for the institute date night. Sir Brandon (he wasn't her Prince Charming) and CinderLella went on a hike with the rest of the institute couples. As they reached the destination they had a dinner of taco salad. It was a delightful evening except for the ridiculous trail that the leaders had picked. The conversation though was quite enjoyable. And Sir Brandon was a true knight and very chivalrous.

this story of CinderLella will be continued later on. :)
